A Strategy For Game Day

In Madden 10, I play 4-3 or 46 scheme most of the time, I do at times play 3-4 using the Jets and Steelers books but find myself using the Ravens D book due to them also playing 46.
I prefer having four defensive line men to create more pressure from the line and also to close up the holes forcing the run outside, allowing my defensive ends and linebackers to pick up the run. This normally results in negative yards. If they rush the middle then my defensive tackle or middle linebacker will pick up the run, normally resulting in few yards. If you contain the rush they will pass more, making it easier to read what the offense is going to do. Depending on how I feel or who I’m playing, you won’t see me blitzing until late in the game or if the offense is 3rd and long and I know that they are going to pass.
Here’s an example of a conservative strategy that I would use against a team like the Patriots or the Colts, two teams known for their passing game.
1st Down – Cover 2
I will play many versions of Cover 2, as this will give me two men deep for the long pass and my linebackers will be in zone to cover the middle for the pass and will also stop and cover the run.
2nd Down – Cover 2 or 3
Depending on and if the offense is 2nd and long or 2nd and short.
For 2nd and Long – Cover 3
Cover 3 will give you 3 men deep for the long pass and you can man up you linebackers or use them to Blitz!!
For 2nd and short – Cover 2
The opposite team will either run or pass short, so Cover 2 will cover both of those areas.
3rd Down – Cover 1
This gives you one man deep and man to man coverage, you can double team their main wide receiver and highlight who you think is their main threat!!
O.K so that’s one of my strategy’s for Madden 10 and for me, it works well against the Pats and Colts. I find I get a lot of pressure with out blitzing as I have the rest of the field covered and yes sometimes I do get beat with a crazy pass or a crazy run but, hey, you can’t get it right all the time. I do have different strategies for different teams and I always have a plan B. This may not work for everyone. So try your creating your own strategy for game day.

How will your game plan Be if you playing against a player that likes to Run? example Adrian Peterson and vikings.
I’m using the jets PB by the way.
ok.. i dont know if this was supose to help but it is not a good idea to listen to wat he’s doing. you have to adjust to what you opponent is doing.. this might be good in the beginning of the game.
Hy guys thanks for your comments, in reply this is just a simple and conservative strategy that I would use against a passing team.
If I am playing against a running team or playing against A.P then the Jets D book and the Ravens D books are perfect as these D books have the 46 scheme.
The 46 scheme can work in many ways, it is really effective against the rush as there are no gaps for the runner and you can also put a huge amount of pressure on the QB if it ends up as a play action. The only thing wrong with the 46 is that it´s not so good against the pass, if you don´t get pressure on the QB he will pick you apart, you must have an elite FS with 90 plus speed or strong zone coverage and good awareness attributes.
Using the Jets/Ravens books are ideal for 3-4 teams as you can switch from 3 d line men to 4 and can mix up your defense. Resulting in the CPU or opponent not knowing what will come next!!!
Hope this helps

I use the giants n i dont have trouble use’n them but i need adivce on a good defense pb
to use i use the bears pb but i think i can fine a better one wat do u think is a good defense pb
Giants have an excellent defense as regards to players, but unfortunately their playbook is not the best.
The Bears Pb is for 46 scheme´s and is a very good book against the run but when ever I play against the Bears I can normally send a player on a hot route and beat them deep or in the flanks, it is a very easy defense to read. I´m not saying its a bad book as I love the 46 scheme, you just need o know how to use it. I recommend the following PB´s for you to try.
4-3 PB´s
Titans – 4-3 and 44, excellent PB.
Raiders – 4-3 and 46, very underrated playbook. If you have an excellent SS then USE this PB.
Try both those books and see what you think.
Feel free to let us know how you get on.

How do you defend the flats? Contain them? I use 3-4 Baltimore defense.
if your running cover 3 doesn’t that leave the slant routes open? i tried your game plan and it work the whole game until my friend realized i was playing cover 3 on 2nd and long and third and long so he started running a lot of slants. so i switched to cover 1 and he was still beating me with the slants. i ended up wining because i went to a cover 4.
Sorry for slow reply Ray and Mike, Defending the flats can be tricky defend in Madden 10 but you can at times get your OLB covering those areas. If your defending man to man make sure your defenders have good attributes to defend man to man and also have good speed and awareness.
