AM Mailbag: Sitdown With The LEX League

This week’s mailbag AskMadden catches up with our League Ambassador, DaGrandChamp. You can catch DGC and the LEX leagues on our forums. You’ve been warned: It’s a shark tank.

There are obvious monetary reasons why one would want to turn pro and play in a league like The LEX. However there are other benefits that are not as recognized as they should be.

“We have guys in the Madden community who demonstrate what it means to be a pro player.”, says LEX CEO DaGrandChampion. “Problem, R.G., Chow, Juggernaut, Truth and many others come to mind. These guys get it – they get what it means to be a pro Madden player. We want these types of guys in our league.”

The LEX leagues are built to encourage skilled Madden players to open their minds and expand their games. The league surrounds you with other creative thinkers similar to the Mutant Academy established by Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men Comic strip. If you want to play against the top ballers in the world then The LEX is where you want to be. However you should be a creative thinker and very thick skinned before you join.

“If you can’t beat me”, says DGC, “forget it! This is the place where the games greatest minds congregate. If you’re not a great player you’re going to get blown out because LEX leaguers eat their own young. Guys get angry about tactics run against them in our league everyday.

You hate goalline offense? Too bad cause your Week 1 opp is CSB Wrongturn and he’s the king of goalline offense.

You hate tournament players? Well you play Big Game James in Week 2 and he’s a legend.

You hate guys who rocket catch? Week 3 you play KRILL.

You hate glitchy players? You finish up the season with a game against Richie.

Madden Nation contestants such as RG are common in the LEX.

You can only play with tourney rules, regular teams and NO accelerated clock? Too bad, we’re an ONLINE league – you have to ADAPT!

“We have guys who are simply the best at what they do. However Creative Thinkers figure things out – or they outscore you and get the win that way. If you’re mentally tough this league will make you stronger. If you become overwhelmed then you will most likely quit. Nonetheless, we face our fears here.”.

Most leagues play more league games than The LEX. DGC usually runs one league season per Madden year. However The LEX is more versatile hosting free monthly tournaments with cash prizes. So the tourney player has a means to participate on familiar territory. It’s also a vehicle to get our online players a taste of tournament life – most leagues don’t have that option.

The LEX Leagues are invite ONLY. In Madden 11 The LEX will turn to established XBOX gamer tags -accounts with no less than 2 years time on them. The league will also look for members who are not dedicated to any other league. The LEX monthly tournaments are open to everyone and will be used to recruit new league members.

“We want league members who are going to play their LEX games, as scheduled, and without interfering or conflicting with another leagues games. In addition to that, the worst thing any great player can suffer from is over exposure.”.

In today’s Madden, playing too many games outside of your own crew can kill your tournament aspirations. Opponents can and will record your game – then jack your shhh. So playing 16 games over TWO months is risky enough, even if you’re playing for cash. Playing 16 games EVERY MONTH during the tourney season is suicide.

“The LEX will continue to be the toughest place in the nation to get a win. We’re going to find and nurture untapped talent – creative thinkers. Hopefully we can encourage them to support the live tourney scene. The guys who have a Super Bowl Trophy on their ‘Point of Contact’ thread have truly earned it.”
