Area Man Scrutinized For Playing Copy Of Madden ‘09

Tampa – In a stunning move that has Madden developers and even gamers completely baffled, area man, David Clements, announced last week that he continues to play his copy of Madden ’09, despite the release of the more recent Madden ’10 last August.

“We were at a party, and me and him and a lot of other guys were talking about how bad-ass this year’s game was,” said Eric Small, who incorrectly considers himself a close friend of Clements. “He wasn’t saying anything for a while, so I asked him what team he uses in this year’s game.”

Apparently, that’s when Clements revealed that he never purchased Madden ‘10, and continues to play his offline franchise as the Denver Broncos with Jay Cutler at quarterback.

“It didn’t make any sense to any of us,” said Small. “We just kept asking him if he knew that Madden ‘10 came out. He kept saying ‘yes.’ I just – I mean, I just don’t understand. You’re supposed to buy the new game every year. Why would someone play the old game? I didn’t even know that the old games would still work if I put them in my XBOX.” After this, Small was so deeply confused as to how someone could still play an old sports video game that he slipped into a coma and was unable to comment further.

Clements has been repeatedly questioned, ridiculed, and scolded by friends and particularly his 11 year-old cousin, Nick Kruger, whom was given special allowance by his parents to purchase Madden ‘10 at midnight on August 14th.

“It’s pretty much the best game ever,” said Kruger, who confessed he has never even played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and still thinks that Sponge Bob is cool. “I have every Madden game since ‘06, and he only has ‘09 and a couple of the crappy older ones.” Following that statement, Kruger asked if his parents would find out that he said the word, “crappy.”

“I don’t know,” said Clements. “I’m just not a huge fan of football. Madden ‘09 was fun and I didn’t really feel like spending the money on the new game, so I’m still playing the last game. I might buy Madden ‘10 when I see it in the bargain bins, but right now, I just don’t feel like it’s worth it.”

Clements said he made the same argument to his group of friends, but they all appeared puzzled and told him he wasn’t making any sense, and immediately afterward they all decided to forget about the whole incident and play Madden ‘10 without Clements, believing it was probably too advanced for him to figure it out.
