MaddenIQ Exclusive: Is Dynasty Retired From '09?

MaddenIQ recently sat down with Dynasty, and Newton, two of the members from GTP in attendance at the last Big City Tourney event in Columbus, Ohio.

IQ:You were recently in Ohio for the big City Tourney. How would you rate the overall atmosphere of the place?

Dynasty: It’s was a great overall tournament. I liked how every game was on a huge projection screen with no lag. That was pretty hot. There was also great food there, too.

Newton: I thought Paul put on a hell of a tournament. The location was great, the competition was top notch, the food was great, and it was just a solid and very well ran tournament.

IQ: GTP came in real strong, but eventually came up short. Were you surprised at all by the quality of play you guys ran into in Ohio?

Dynasty: Nah, not really. When we went up there we were totally expecting a dog fight going into every game.

Newton: Was we surprised? No. Disappointed? Yes. We had alot of opportunity’s in Ohio, From my game vs Truth, to Lil Man’s game vs Delph to Big Game James’ game against K Star. Next time we will just seize these opportunity’s and come out on top.

IQ: Newton, you asked and got exactly what you wanted in K Star. Was he everything you expected him to be? Better?  Worse?

Newton: K Star was exactly what I thought he would be. A guy with a ton of stick on offense and an okay, but not great defense. I had the game planned out in my mind the way to play a player like that; which is to run the ball, manage the game, and create one turnover and win the game. Unfortunately I came up one yard short.

IQ: Dynasty, it’s common knowledge now that you actually sat out for the tournament, as well as a couple others in your hometown. Any reason behind this? Are you retired for the rest of ‘09?

Dynasty: Nah, I’m not retired. I just wanted to relax a little bit and let my other dudes get there shine on, but I’m going to play this weekend in Jersey at KOTC. I feel its time for me to start playing again.

IQ: GTP has gone on record for predicting a victory in the Big City Bowl coming up. Who, in your opinion is going to win this from GTP? Another 7 way split?

Newton: I’m pretty sure Dynasty is playing and he has to be the favorite in any tournament he plays in this year. But if he doesn’t or he doesn’t win it I look for Lil Man, Big Game James or myself to take it home.

Dynasty: I’m really focused on Players Bowl. Outside of the Madden Challenge, Players Bowl is the biggest tournament of the year but I’ll definately be at Big City’s next tourny for sure.

IQ: Newton, I must say I was in attendance that day, though I didn’t play and you were one of the guys that surprised me. You did really well having both a hell game in Truth, and K Star by slim margins. Anybody you’re gunning for this time around?

Newton: I’m not really gunning for anyone, but im not shying away from anyone either. I think the people that watched me play in that tournament realized that what they thought from online rumors or online games is far different than what it actually is when we lock in at a tournament. I welcome all challenges but wouldn’t mind trying to knock off the recent big city champ.

IQ: What were your guys’ thoughts on the Lil Man vs Delph game? When they rematch, how does the game go?

Newton:That game summed up into one word would be, JOKE. If Delph gives Lil Man a rematch I see Lil Man beating him by 10+ points, and I know that me and the rest of GTP are willing to put up any amount that Lil Man wins that game.

Dynasty: Honestly, I thought Delph had to have gone to church earlier in the day. When the game got cut off, it messes up the whole momentum of the game. It’s basically starting over in a new game. But yeah I love Lil Man over Delph allll dayyy.

IQ: Newton, You are entered in our free online entry tournament. How many guys from GTP are going to enter, if not all of them? Free entry to big city if you guys win it.. pretty sweet if you ask me?

Newton:Yeah, Im really stoked about this tournament and I know the guys are too because for all my dudes in Philly.. it’s like a 7 hour drive and I know I really want to come out on top of this because I am 12 hours+ away from the tourney, and me making it there is alot harder than it is for almost everyone else in attendance.

IQ: Dynasty, now that you’ve reached the top, what are your goals heading into the 2010 season?

Dynasty: Just to keep doing my thing. Win another city and be the first to repeat, even though i know it’s not going to be easy since its never been done before, and everyone is gonna be gunning for the champ and my title.
