Shotgun Tight Reads

Playbook: Many
Play: Bench Switch
Formation: Shotgun Tight/Snugs

Setup 1
1) Smart route outside WR
2) Motion over (to sideline) smart routed corner (rocket catch opportunity)
3) Roll out with out route to closest hash

Reads
1) Out route
2) Smart routed corner (dot/rocket)
3) Delayed curl
4) Corner opposite hash

Why It Works:

This play is pure chaos to defend in Madden 10. We have implemented a new tactic all alone in this play, introducing the motion rocket technique which can be applied to various play setups in the game. As you motion him out, you rocket it with the right stick down after about 12-30 yards. This can be a pain to defend against because it almost always requires manual defense and the defense can be fooled into defending any motion opportunity now as we have them assuming rocket. This is like Pandora’s box in how it opens up the opportunities offensively to capitalize on this. We roll out with the out route against zone because it sucks in the zone when you roll out the same side as a route combination. Because of this, this allows the out route to pop wide open against ANY ZONE in the game with the roll out combo Pre-snap in snugs or tight we can see immediately if the defense is playing man or zone, which tells us immediately if this play will be immediately effective.

Setup 2
1) Quick Snap

If rocketing isn’t your thing, you still have a great generic play setup that obliterates zone with the rollout out route. This can be quick snapped and a pain to defend against with the quick snap because you can catch a defense making adjustments, which could actually free up the corner route for a bomb opportunity.

NOTE: In shotgun TIGHT, you can motion the outside corner route on a smart routed corner or a slant to the right and hike it before he fully sets. This will MURDER bump and run coverage because the defender won’t be able to effectively jam the wideout in motion, leaving the defender in the dust.

    This is a great play!!

  2. hollywood says:

What is the pass lead on this rocket catch? pass lead up, bullet pass to the sideline, or regular bullet

  3. Sticks says:

This might be the most simple great play i seen all year, not to mention that you don’t have to watch DTs in contains because once you roll out they would be blocked , allowing for a nice throw to the out route.

  4. C-Land says:

This play is another great example of how madden 10 is one of the most glitched maddens ever. It seems as if everything in this game appears glitched or pre-determined at one point or another. I mean come on, just because you roll out to the right or left means the cornerback refuses to cover the flats. You have the ability to sprint backwards, turnaround, and deliver a accurate pass, throwing sideways. Thats Ludacris! But i cant blame you though, if a game has a major programming error we should all take advantage of that.

  5. Sticks says:

Yeah We all hate to defend the flats , beacause like C-land says is an error in the game, and Honestly as cool as MAdden might look and do other things great, I dont think there would ever be a perfect football game But maybe EA or anyone else can come close. MAYBE!
