Truth’s Official QB Draw
Play: Y Trail
Playbook: Pass Balanced, HOU, NO
Steps:
1) Come out in the play flipped.
2) Streak FB and HB. (Steak your RB after he sets in line with the center
for he gets a “fade” streak)
3) Streak your TE
4) Drag your receiver on the right.
5) Fade your receiver on the left.
6) Slide protect up.
7) Motion your left receiver and hike him at the right leg of your TE.
*KEY* Continuously tap Speed Burst until you get complete control of your QB. (this will allow you to get complete control and run straight forward without your QB doing a big circle animation.)
Truth’s Thoughts:
This is a very deadly QB Draw built within the latest Tournament Rules. This play should be an easy 3-4 yards if ran correctly. Obviously the faster your QB the better off this play will be, so I would recommend using either Pat White or Michael Vick. Pat white has one of the highest carry rating for a QB compared to Mike Vick’s 44 Carry. So fit that into your scheme whether your a reckless player or a slide for 4 yards type of player. Even without those two under center this Draw will still be affective with most QB’s over 75 speed, you will just miss the breakaway touchdown speed that Vick and White posses. The best scenario to run the draw would be when your opponent is in a dime, quarter, dollar, or nickel set.(Easier said, a set with the defense spread out)
Why It Works:
This Draw works simply put, because the amount of blockers you will posses once your QB crosses the line of scrimmage. To break it down the two backs or streaks are the most effective routes possible because under center you will most likely experience a lot of blitzes from your opponent. With that said those two backs will cross the line right in front of your QB and act as a wall of blockers. In the setup you may ask why you want your RB to perform a “weird” looking streak, as I like to call it a “fade” streak. Reasoning for this is because it will give a sense of the left and the right side is covered for your QB to be protected to the max! The TE on a streak acts as a down field blocker as well as a clear out in your opponent is in man. Most players would think to drag or slant their TE for extra up-front blocking, when actually that will damper this play. Since the defense may be in man coverage the defender marking the TE will trail the TE because of the break by the TE. This will cause the defender to get a free shot at your QB. Moving on to the dragging receiver on the right will close off the “man made wall” of defenders. Lastly the receiver you motion, if you hike it at the right spot, should get a drop down below the offensive line animation and act as the fourth and final blocker in the “man made wall”. With the term “man made wall” you will understand this concept after running this Draw correctly.
